Hands on History: Make a Jianzi

Primary tabs

Program Description

Body

Learn about the history of jianzi 毽子 and make your own to play with. This traditional Chinese game, enjoyed globally in various versions, involves players using their bodies—except their hands—to keep a shuttlecock in the air, much like hacky sack. Children and teens ages 6 to 17 are invited to come in on Saturday, May 10 to pick up a craft kit during the hours of 10am to 5pm as long as supplies last. There will be limited numbers and we will not be able to hold kits. Adults picking up for children who are not present will be limited to 2 kits per adult. If we do run out, we will have instructions on how to make your own at home.

This program has been made possible thanks to the generous support of the William Z. Nasri family.
