Program Description

Body

Learn the basics of mending your own clothing by hand. During this introductory course hosted by Old Flame Mending, you'll be guided in how to sew on a button, sew up a seam, patch a hole, or repair small tears in a garment. Open to adults ages 18+. No prior sewing experience necessary.

Participants should bring garments that are in need of mending. Recommended items: clothes with a loose or missing button / hook + eye, items that have a small tear or items that have a hole in them. Lightweight woven fabrics and lightweight- heavyweight knits recommended. Not recommended: denim, leather, heavy duty fabrics, sweaters, complex repairs like zipper replacement, etc.

NOTE: we will not cover darning (aka sweater repair), nor will we use sewing machines in this class. All sewing will be done by hand.

Registration is required and space is limited. The cost of the class is $12 per person, which is non-refundable and due at the time of registration. The fee covers individual kits for participants to take home as well as materials that Old Flame Mending will provide for the group to use during the workshop.
