Program Description

Body

Celebrate National Jazz Appreciation Month with a live performance by The Merrymakers Jazz Duo, featuring the talented Rob Bickel. Known for their mastery in traditional jazz—from the lively rhythms of Dixieland to the smooth stylings of Benny Goodman—the duo will also explore contemporary jazz, offering a rich and varied musical experience. The group, which has been together for 20 years, will provide interesting commentary and explanation of the jazz tunes and styles.

Rob Bickel is a distinguished pianist and Adjunct Professor of Piano at Duquesne University. With a Masters Degree in Music, Rob’s career spans venues including Heinz Hall, Benedum Center, and Carnegie Music Hall. His resume includes performances with legends such as Mel Tormé, Gladys Knight, and Liberace.

The performance is free and open to all ages. Registration is suggested, but not required.

This concert is made possible thanks to a generous grant from The Recording Industry's Music Performance Trust Fund.
