Program Description

Body

Join us for this special solar eclipse session with Dr. James Lombardi, Professor of Astronomy and Astrophysics at Allegheny College. During this family-friendly presentation, you'll learn how to prepare for this rare, natural event. Find out the science behind the eclipse, where to go for the best views, and how to make the most of the experience. There will be time for questions, as well as a demonstration on building solar eclipse viewers using common household objects.

Safe solar-filtered glasses will be handed out to in-person attendees. Weather permitting, Dr. Lombardi will lead the group outdoors to practice using the glasses. Registration is strongly suggested. Free and open to all ages.

The library will also be holding a Solar Eclipse Viewing on Monday, April 8.
